Local Church Responds to Michigan's Job Loss and Rough Economic Times
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., Feb. 24, 2006 -- Recent announcements from the auto industry have left Michigan's economy in question. Plant closings, restructuring, and layoffs have people in Metro Detroit wondering what the future holds. Epic Church is responding to these issues by beginning a five-week series of messages entitled, "unCERTAINty," to help people through the uncertainty of our times.
"Everyday we read the headlines about job loss, financial problems and future insecurities," said Tim Kade, Lead Pastor Epic Church. "We believe that churches need to help our communities during times like these and share the message of hope and certainty in an uncertain world."
While the national economy is going strong, a recent report showed that the unemployment rate here in Michigan is now 6.7%, the fourth highest in the country. Many local families are being impacted and Epic Church hopes their new message series will encourage and help them cope with the current economic situation.
"This is not only about the economy. These setbacks affect families, relationships, and the community in a very personal way," added Tim Kade. "Often, the additional financial strain can lead to marital and family stress, and if left unchecked, has the ability demoralize and debilitate a home."
These issues will be discussed at Epic Church's weekend services which are held on Sundays at the AMC Forum 30 movie theatre in Sterling Heights at 9:45am. The topics include:
Feb. 26 - Where Can I Find Certainty? Mar. 5 - Is God Really Close By? Mar. 12 - Is God Trustworthy? Mar. 19 - What IS God's Plan? Mar. 26 - How Do I know Which Way To Go?
