Checkers/Rally's Drives Jimmie Johnson to Double Win at Daytona

Checkers(r)/Rally's(r) Drives Jimmie Johnson(tm) to Double Win at Daytona

No. 48 Lowe's Team wins Daytona 500 and Double Drive-Thru Challenge contingency program

DAYTONA - February 22, 2006: Checkers(r)/Rally's(r), the Official Burger and Drive-Thru Restaurant of NASCAR(r), today announced that Driver Jimmie Johnson(tm) and the No. 48(r) Lowe's Hendrick Motorsports(r) Team were two-time winners at Daytona on Sunday: finishing first in the Daytona 500 and finishing fastest in the Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge contingency program.

"I couldn't be prouder of the guys in our pit crew who pulled together to help deliver a big win for us," said Jimmie Johnson, whose No. 48 car spent the least amount of time in pit lane at the Daytona 500. "I am very excited to win the Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge because it recognizes the efforts of our entire crew."

For their win, the No. 48 team will receive an award of $10,500, and they are now eligible to compete for the grand prize of $105,000 at the end of the season.

"We congratulate Jimmie Johnson and the No. 48 Lowe's Hendrick Motorsports Team for winning the first of our weekly contingency prizes this season," said Richard Turer, Vice President of Marketing, Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. "We understand that it takes a team effort to make cars move fast, at the track and through the double drive-thru lanes of our restaurants. That's why we're committed to recognizing our restaurant crews with award-winning incentive programs, and why we sponsor a NASCAR contingency program that recognizes the best pit crew performances all season long."

In 2006, Checkers/Rally's expanded its NASCAR Nextel Cup contingency award to recognize Busch and Craftsman Truck Series teams as well. This week, the winners in those series were:

* Busch Series: No. 2 AC Delco Team with Driver Clint Bowyer

* Craftsman Truck Series: No. 14 Circle Bar Truck Corral Team with Driver Rick Crawford

Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge focuses on the team element of the race that is integral to successful performances each week. To win, teams were required to finish on the lead lap while spending the least amount of time in pit lane.
