*Starting line high priority for Jason Line at Phoenix*
Chandler, Ariz. (February 22, 2006) - Jason Line plans to work on his
driving techniques at the starting line at this weekend's second of 23
events in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, the NHRA 22nd annual
Checker Schuck's Kragen Nationals, which gets underway with qualifying
Friday and Saturday and final eliminations on Sunday.
Line gives himself a grade of C on the lights at the recently completed
season-opening NHRA CARQUEST Auto Parts Winternationals two weekends ago
in Pomona, Calif. "I need to cut better lights than I did at Pomona,"
said Line, "to insure that we have a chance of putting both KB Racing
Summit Racing Equipment Pontiacs in the finals."
Over the past two years, Line has gone to 15 final rounds, winning eight
times. During the same time frame his teammate Greg Anderson has gone
to 30 final rounds winning 23. The pair has met in five final rounds
during 2004 and 2005. So there is a chance that the two can meet in the
final round at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Ariz., just
outside Phoenix.
Over all the team did well at Pomona, with Line ending qualifying locked
in the No. 5 position. Line then incurred a holeshot loss to Larry
Morgan in the second round. "With Greg winning the race, I would have
to give the team an A-minus grade at Pomona. I need to improve on the
lights at Phoenix. The ideal situation would be for us to be on
opposite sides of the qualifying ladder, that way Greg and I have the
opportunity to have a two-car KB Racing final round," said Line.
Qualifying for Line and his KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro
Stock Pontiac GTO begins with two sessions on Friday scheduled for 3:30
p.m. and 6 p.m. and concludes with two additional sessions on Saturday
at 12 noon and 2:30 p.m. Line begins his quest for the Checker Schuck's
Kragen Nationals Top Fuel title on Sunday with eliminations for all
classes beginning at 11 a.m. *All times are local Phoenix time (MST)
and subject to change at anytime. *
Qualifying highlights for the 22nd running of the NHRA Checker Schuck's
Kragen Nationals can be seen on ESPN2 on Saturday (Feb. 25) from 8-10
