David Stremme, No. 40 Coors Light Dodge
Auto Club 500- California Speedway Advance
No. 40 TEAM FACTS:
* California Native: Rear Tire Changer Daryl Lockyer is a native
of California from the Los Angeles area. He has been a tire changer for
12 years and he has been a member of the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix
Sabates team for the past year-and-a-half. Growing up 30 minutes from
the California Speedway, he says his favorite food is In & Out Burger
and before joining the NASCAR ranks he built cars for fellow California
native Ron Hornaday Jr. He also recalls Kevin Harvick from his local
racing days.
* 2006 Sponsors: The No. 40 Dodge Charger will sport both the
Coors Light and Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon logos this season. The
two will serve as the primary sponsors for 17 races each, and as
associate sponsors for the other 19 races. Coors Light will officially
begin its season this weekend at California Speedway.
* Chassis: Crew Chief Jeff Vandermoss and the No. 40 crew will be
taking chassis No. 405 for the Auto Club 500 this weekend. David
Stremme piloted this chassis twice last season at Chicagoland and
Charlotte where he finished 16th and 36th respectively.
* Rookie Ranks: Stremme currently sits fourth in the Raybestos
Rookie of the Year standings after his 28th-place effort in the Daytona
500. Stremme, with eight points, is eight points behind leader Clint
Boyer.
* Coors Appearance: Stremme will be taking part in the Fontana
Racefest this Thursday at California Speedway. He will be signing
autographs at the track from 6-8 p.m. PT.
* California Stats: Stremme has made four Busch Series starts at
California Speedway. His average starting position is 21st and his
average finish is 20th.
David Stremme Quotes:
What did you think of your first Daytona 500 and what are your thoughts
going to California?
"I am really happy with the way the No. 40 crew came together and
finished the race. We had some transmission problems and sustained some
damage but the whole crew came together and we brought the car home in
one piece and finished the race. Everyone worked well together and I
think we really had a great run. The Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon Dodge
took a beating out in the draft but to bring home a 28th-place finish is
not bad and hopefully we can go out and have some fun this weekend in
California. The team's goal is a top-15 finish and I hope we can
accomplish that. Obviously, I think we can finish higher but as long as
we continue to meet our goals and run consistently we will be okay in
the points standings."
What would be a good season in your mind?
"Obviously, it would be awesome if we made the Chase, to me that would
be like winning the championship. I'd love to finish in the top-15 in
points, being consistent every week, and obviously a win. That's
something that I definitely want to do. I've won in everything that
I've been in except the Busch Series. I've come close but I haven't
been able to capitalize on it and a lot of that has to do with being
with so many different teams. Being with an independent Busch team is
tough because the Busch Series has become real competitive. When I look
at this season, I want to be competitive and gain the respect of my
fellow drivers."
