Patti Labelle, Tom Wolfe, NASCAR Champ Stewart Highlight Season Two of SPEED's Unique Whips; Will Castro's Unique Autosports Team Ratchets up Star Power, Customizing Everything from Lamborghinis to a Cadillac Hearse
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Feb. 16, 2006--SPEED is renewing its Wednesday night hit Unique Whips featuring Will Castro and his crew at Long Island's Unique Autosports, as season two debuts Feb. 22, 2006 at 10 p.m. with a fresh batch of A-list celebrities and amazing automobiles."Everybody has really stepped it up tremendously for season two of Unique Whips," said Robert Ecker, SPEED VP of Programming. "The jobs are bigger, Will's roster of celebrity clients is better, and the overall entertainment value of the series far surpasses the first cycle of shows. Just as Castro and his crew continue to define the automotive lifestyle with their amazing work, so, too, does this program continue to be the perfect vehicle for conveying that lifestyle to the SPEED audience."
In the first episode, Castro donates a customization package valued at $25,000 to the "Jorge Posada Foundation," an organization founded in support of the New York Yankees catcher's son, who has a rare brain condition. Will and shop manager Reme Rowland hit the red carpet and attend the foundation's "Heroes for Hope" gala dinner in New York City and rub elbows with Yankees greats Joe Torre, Jason Giambi, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez. Giambi, already a Unique customer, places the winning bid.
In other season-two episodes, songstress Patti Labelle, The Right Stuff author Tom Wolfe, NASCAR superstars Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick, Washington Nationals star pitcher Livan Hernandez, New York Yankees Gary Sheffield and Robinson Cano, DJ Whoo Kid, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, G-Unit, Busta Rhymes and Carmine Gotti of Growing Up Gotti all make appearances to discuss how Will can make their already fabulous rides truly unique.
"Season two of Whips is hot," Castro said. "We're showing more of what we do and how we do it. We had a few new people come in and go right back out, because they couldn't make the cut. I went to my first NASCAR event and hung with some of the top dogs in the game. And If you think rap artists are a little crazy, you'll see that famous authors can be just as wild. This new season of Unique Whips will give everyone a bigger look at what Unique Autosports is all about."
