AAA Texas Encourages Parents to Properly Restrain Their Children When Driving
HOUSTON--Feb. 1, 20065, 2006--AAA Texas is urging parents once again about the importance of properly restraining kids in car seats following the tragic death of a 1-month old infant today.According to police, the baby was riding in its mother's arms when the car overturned during an accident and ejected the infant from the vehicle, killing the child.
To help parents purchase a child safety seat or booster seat, AAA Texas is offering discount coupons to the public in its 10 AAA district offices in and around the Houston area. The coupons are good toward $10 off any car seat over $40 at Babies 'R' Us retail stores.

"Too often it is a tragedy that reminds us about the importance of being properly restrained," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "We encourage all parents to buckle up and to make sure that their little ones are restrained in a car seat or booster seat." February 12th - 18th is National Child Passenger Safety Week.
Texas law requires children younger than five years old and less than 36" tall to ride in a child safety seat.
