#96 DLP(R) HDTV Chevrolet to Hit Tracks for First Time at Daytona 500
Texas Instruments Sponsorship of Hall of Fame Racing to Drive HDTV Awareness With NASCAR Fans
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Feb. 15 -- Texas Instruments (TI) today announced its sponsorship plans surrounding the race debut of the #96 DLP HDTV Chevrolet through Hall of Fame Racing at the Daytona 500. In addition to the primary sponsorship of Hall of Fame Racing's #96 Chevrolet with its DLP HDTV technology, TI will introduce a mobile marketing unit that will educate fans on the benefits of high-definition television (HDTV) for watching races. The #96 DLP HDTV Chevrolet will hit the track for the first time with two-time NASCAR Cup Champion Terry Labonte behind the wheel.
With its inaugural sponsorship in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup series for the 2006 season, TI plans to educate fans on HDTV and drive awareness of its DLP HDTV technology. Beginning with the 2005 season, Cup fans are able to watch every race broadcast in HD, which brings greater clarity and detail to give fans a life-like, immersive race experience from the comfort of their living rooms. The only thing missing is the smell of burning rubber.
The new, grand-scale DLP Reality Zone mobile marketing unit located in the midway will feature stunning visual presentations of DLP HDTVs from manufacturers such as Mitsubishi, RCA, Samsung and Toshiba, and DLP home theater projectors from InFocus, Mitsubishi, Optoma and Samsung. Fans will also get to experience a mind-blowing 3D HD presentation on a 20-foot screen using dual NEC DLP Cinema(R) projectors.
For the Daytona race, TI has partnered with high-end home and mobile electronics retailer Tweeter and its Florida-based brand, Sound Advice, to offer race fans a 10% discount on DLP HDTVs, applicable for a limited time surrounding the season opener. Tweeter and Sound Advice will have prominent placement on the #96 DLP HDTV Chevrolet and will be featured in DLP HDTV national TV and radio advertisements running before and during the race. In addition, visitors to the DLP Reality Zone will have the opportunity to speak with Tweeter and Sound Advice experts to learn more about the DLP technology and the advantages of HDTV for home entertainment.

The recently launched fan website will feature team bios, car specifications, qualifying and race results, show car appearances, as well as more information on DLP technology and the DLP Reality Zone mobile marketing unit.
Hall of Fame Racing is the new team behind the #96 DLP HDTV race car, which was formed by two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Roger Staubach, business man and Chevrolet Corvette Manufacturers' Championship Trans-Am driver Bill Saunders, and three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback and newly inducted Hall of Fame member Troy Aikman. The multi-year relationship between TI and Hall of Fame Racing includes an agreement with Joe Gibbs Racing, one of the most successful teams in the NEXTEL Cup Series, to provide cars, engines, technology and various racing support services. Terry Labonte and Tony Raines will share driving duties for the #96 DLP HDTV Chevrolet for the 2006 season.
"We are very excited to enter the sport of NASCAR with the strong management and race team that has been built at Hall of Fame Racing," said Doug Darrow, Brand and Marketing Manager, DLP Products. "As new sponsors, we understand there is a big learning curve ahead of us, and look forward to applying those lessons learned to maximize our experience with the sport of NASCAR."
