Polestar Racing Group Inks California Driver

Chardon, Ohio -- Polestar Racing Group announced today the signing of their newest acquisition, in 17 year old Alan Sciuto.

Sciuto who resides in Orange, California will be one of the youngest drivers in the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama. He has signed for a full season of Atlantic competition "an incredible opportunity," said Sciuto. "I will be learning from one of the best and most respected team owners in Atlantic racing, and I feel like I'm the luckiest guy in the world."

Polestar Racing Group was founded by principals Jim and Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter in 2001. This trio of talent has over 25 years of racing experience amongst them. The group is diverse as it is accomplished, and has been responsible for guiding a Who's Who list of drivers that utilized the Toyota Atlantic Series as a stepping stone in their careers. They include: Buddy Rice (2004 Indianapolis 500 winner), Alex Barron, Patrick Carpentier, Joey Hand, Memo Gidley, and Ronnie Bremer, just to name a few.

Last year's Polestar team of Katherine Legge and Antoine Bessette won five of twelve series events in 2005 making them the winningest team competing in Atlantics in '05. We are excited to have Alan Sciuto join the team," said Jim Griffith. "I've been keeping an eye on his career in shifter karts for a number of years and he is indeed a rising star." .He's the type of driver that is fast no matter what kind of car you put him in; we were more than impressed with his abilities."

Polestar Racing Group and PKV Racing have renewed their alliance for 2006. "PKV Racing is pleased to continue its sponsorship of the Polestar Racing Group entries during the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama," said Kevin Kalkhoven of PKV Racing. "We were very happy with the results of the PKV/Polestar Group in 2005 and we are excited to be the sponsor of Alan Sciuto. Alan is a talented young American driver who showed in just three races of Atlantic competition last year that he has the skill to be competitive in this series.

Sciuto's achievements in racing have been building since his racing career began in 2001.

He was the SKUSA 80cc Junior Amateur Championship runner-up. From there his successes continued to mount. In 2002 he was the SKUSA ProMoto 80cc Junior World Champion and Shifter Kart Magazine "Young Driver of the Year 2003" saw him set yet another mark as the first 14 year old to win a Pro ICC national event in Stars of Karting. In 2004 he was ranked nationally as the No 1 shifter Kart driver in North America and was the first driver to be named both Junior and Pro Driver of the Year with 15 consecutive National podiums. In 2005 he raced two Skip Barber races and two Pro Zetec events and finished with a first and second in both venues of competition.

Though new to Atlantics in 2005, he tested the Atlantic Series waters at San Jose, Denver and Road America with remarkable results. He qualified on the pole at Denver putting himself into the Series record books as the youngest driver ever to sit on pole. He finished second at Denver fourth at San Jose, and sixth at Road America.

The Champ Car Atlantic Championship continues to be the premier open-wheel development series in North America. Beginning its 33rd season in 2006, the championship is noted for its long history of graduating its stars into Champ Car competition and has helped produce past Champ Car champions Paul Tracy, Jimmy Vasser, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan, Michael Andretti and Jacques Villeneuve. 2005 Champ Car competitors Alex Tagliani, Andrew Ranger and Ronnie Bremer are also established Atlantic graduates along with 2004 Champ Car Rookie of the Year and 2003 Atlantic champ A.J. Allmendinger. Competing in newly-designed Swift 016.a chassis powered by a 2.3-liter Cosworth engine riding on Yokohama ADVAN Racing Slicks, 2006 competitors will fight for the 12-race championship and the unique $2 million Champ Car series champion's bonus.
