Guardium Expands Global Installed Base by 6x in 2005; Demand for Database Security and Compliance Solutions Fuels Growth, Industry Partnerships and New Product Innovation

WALTHAM, Mass.--Feb. 1, 20064, 2006--Guardium, Inc., the database security company, today announced multiple hallmarks of record growth during 2005. The company expanded its domestic and international customer footprint, formed new strategic partnership and reseller agreements, and launched three major products tackling information theft and compliance issues.

"Companies were driven to invest more in database security and auditing in 2005 by high-profile data breaches and compliance mandates - two consistent drivers we'll also see in 2006," said Ram Metser, Guardium's CEO. "Mainstream companies are now realizing they need to proactively protect their sensitive information, customer relationships and brand value."

Guardium's flagship product, Guardium SQL Guard(TM), is now the industry's most widely used network solution for database security and auditing. Its deep contextual analysis of all SQL traffic empowers enterprises to detect and prevent unauthorized and anomalous activity in real time - anywhere on the network - while its automated auditing capabilities minimize the cost and complexity of compliance.

Guardium's installed base now includes seven of the Global 500 with installations in multiple continents, and many of the world's best known brands in financial services, telecommunications, retail, media, energy, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and government.

Market Highlights

Guardium's 2005 highlights include:

-- Increased installed base by a factor of six.

-- Joined IBM's prestigious Data Governance Council, a group of
leading companies, institutions and technology solution
providers that clarify and resolve common data governance
challenges and explore solutions as they relate to security,

with the EMC Centera(TM) content addressed storage (CAS)

According to Gartner's July 2005 report entitled, "Hype Cycle for Data Security, 2005," "We are seeing an increasing emphasis on securing (or failing to secure) enterprise data, not just enterprise networks."

In another Gartner report dated October 2005 and entitled, "Best Practices and Compliance with Data Security," Rich Mogull, research vice president at Gartner wrote, "Database activity monitoring is one of the most promising new categories of data security and one with particular appeal to internal and external auditors. These standalone appliances enforce separation of duties by segregating audit from administrative functions, and they allow alerting based on specific database activity ... Database audit appliances can also audit key database activity without the performance impact some users experience with local DBMS auditing."
