Henry Ford Academy Seeks Applications for 9th Grade Enrollment

DEARBORN, Mich.--Feb. 13, 2006--Henry Ford Academy, the public charter high school part of The Henry Ford, is currently seeking applications for 9th grade enrollment. Open to all Wayne County students eligible to enter the ninth grade in the fall of 2006, the academy admission process is lottery-based. Deadline for enrollment is Friday, February 17.

In partnership with The Henry Ford, Ford Motor Company and Wayne County's Regional Educational Service Agency, Henry Ford Academy opened its doors in 1997, becoming the nation's first charter school developed jointly by a global corporation, public education and a nonprofit cultural institution.

Located on the campus of The Henry Ford, this innovative high school consists of more than 400 students who, on a daily basis, learn in classrooms constructed within Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Its curriculum is project-based and prepares students for the university. Currently, more than 85 percent of Henry Ford Academy graduates are accepted into higher education.

Applications for ninth grade enrollment must be postmarked by February 17, 2006. Those postmarked after this date will not be accepted. Students will be notified by March 24, 2006 of their admission status. The lottery will be conducted by the accounting firm of Plante & Moran, LLP. Upon enrollment, students will be required to show proof of Wayne County residency.

Siblings of students who will be enrolled for the 2006-2007 school year must complete an application for automatic enrollment.
