Greg Anderson wins his 40th event

POMONA, Calif. (February 11, 2006) - Greg Anderson, driver of the KB
Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTO clenched his
40th event win at the season-opening NHRA CARQUEST Auto Parts
Winternationals when he defeated Mike Edwards in the final round of
eliminations.

For the three-time (2003-2005) and defending POWERade Drag Racing Series
champion, the track-record pass of 6.665 seconds was his 41st career No.
1 qualifying effort, his third at Pomona Raceway and his second at the
Winternationals.

In route to the final round, Anderson defeated Bob Panella Jr., Rickie
Smith and Larry Morgan before making it to the final round against Mike
Edwards. In the final round, Anderson ran another 6.665 second pass at
207.75 mph, a Pomona track record speed, to turn back Edwards.

Throughout eliminations lane choice was a factor. "It was dead obvious,
the writing was on the wall (about the lane). It's not that you
couldn't win in the right lane, but you're going to have to do
something special - get a big hole-shot on the Christmas Tree probably
to do it, and that's just not a comfortable feeling," reflected
Anderson. "I knew if we stayed in that left lane we had a great chance
as long as I didn't let the team down. Luckily I came through, we ran
fast all day, stayed in the left lane and that's exactly how the plan
paid off."

Despite a slow start in 2005, Anderson captured eight victories,
advanced to 11 final rounds, earned seven No. 1 qualifying positions and
captured 53 round wins. He is only the third Pro Stock driver in the
history of the sport to win three straight championship titles (Lee
Shepherd and Bob Glidden being the other two).

Said Anderson, "As soon as we finished the '05 season, we dug in and
worked 10-14 hours a day 6-7 days a week. We never lifted because we
could not start 2006 as we did 2005, and, we were going to try and do
something about it. There was no guarantee -hard work is never a
guarantee, but I can guarantee that you're not going to achieve things
for long without that hard work, so we're obviously satisfied with how
it has paid off for this KB Racing team today. It is a long season and
there's no telling what's going to happen, but today, I feel pretty good
about our chances. I'm just super proud of the guys and the job they've
done with this Pontiac GTO. They prepared a fantastic race car and used
their time wisely in the off-season and now it's up to us to keep it
going and improve upon what we've got. There are a lot of great cars
and we're going to be one of them."

Next up for Anderson is the NHRA Checker Schuck's Kragen Nationals, Feb.
24-26, at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Ariz., just
outside Phoenix.

ESPN2 will also air same-day television coverage of eliminations from
7:30 until 10:30 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 12). The elimination show repeats
early Tuesday morning from 3-5 a.m. Television times are Eastern Time
(ET) and subject to change at anytime. Check local listings.
