KB Racing LCC teams win Full Throttle Award
POMONA, Calif. (February 12, 2006) - KB Racing LLC claimed two of the
three Full Throttle NHRA Pit Crew Championship bonus awards at the
season-opening CARQUEST Auto Parts Winternationals. Hillary Will,
rookie Top Fuel driver and teammate Jason Line, who finished No. 3 in
the 2005 Pro Stock point standings, accepted the awards on behalf of
their teams who propelled them to top five qualifying positions.
Jim Oberhofer, crew chief of the KB Racing LLC owned Top Fuel Dragster,
and his crew tuned Will to a No. 4 qualifying position in what was her
first event as a professional Top Fuel driver. Off the trailer, Will
ran down the quarter-mile in 4.61 seconds, then improved her position
with a 4.51 that was repeated two more times to hold her in a respectful
fourth position.
Line held down the No. 1 position after the first day of qualifying,
before finishing in the No. 5 qualifying spot. His crew produced runs
were a model of consistency, with four qualifying passes of 6.74
seconds, 6.70, 6.68 and 6.72. Hats are off to his team and the job they
did in the opening event in the 23-race POWERade Drag Racing Series.
The Full Throttle NHRA Pit Crew Championship program awards bonus money
to one team from each of the four professional categories attending NHRA
POWERade Series events. The program utilizes a points system, generally
based on a combination of qualifying position and elapsed times to
determine and award Full Throttle NHRA Pit Crew Championships at each
event. The Full Throttle NHRA Pit Crew Champions at each NHRA POWERade
National Event receive awards as follows: Top Fuel, $3,000; Funny Car
$3000; Pro Stock $1,500 Pro Stock Motorcycle $750. Points accumulate
from each event to determine and award an annual season-end Full
throttle NHRA Pit Crew Champion. The season-end Full Throttle NHRA Pit
Crew Champions shall receive awards as follows: Top Fuel $25,000; Funny
Car $25,000; Pro Stock $15,000; Pro Stock Motorcycle $5,000.
