Nextel Cup Champion Tony Stewart Announces Eight Race Busch Series Schedule Driving the #33 Old Spice Car for Owner Kevin Harvick, Inc.
Old Spice and Stewart Continue Their Six-Year Partnership With an Expanded Busch Schedule in 2006
CINCINNATI, Feb. 8 -- Old Spice, the No. 1 antiperspirant/deodorant stick and personal cleansing choice for guys in the U.S., announces its increased presence in the adrenaline-charged world of NASCAR. Reigning Nextel Cup Champion Tony Stewart, who has been sponsored by Old Spice for the past six seasons in the Nextel Cup Series, will be driving the brand's Busch Series stock car in 2006. The #33 Old Spice Chevrolet Monte Carlo will appear in eight races and make its Busch Series debut in the Hershey's Kissables 300 at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 18, 2006.
In addition to getting behind the wheel of the Old Spice car, Stewart is working with Old Spice to give some lucky fans the towel right off his shoulder through the Victory Sweat Towel Auction program. After every Busch Series victory this season, Stewart will immediately autograph and hand over his Old Spice towel in the winner's circle (as seen in countless post-race interviews) for an auction to benefit The Victory Junction Gang Camp. Fans can place a bid for the towel by logging onto www.OldSpice.com shortly after the race.
Following is the 2006 schedule for the #33 Old Spice Chevrolet in the Busch Series:
Feb. 18 - Daytona International Speedway March 11 - Las Vegas Motor Speedway April 29 - Talladega Superspeedway May 27 - Lowe's Motor Speedway July 8 - Chicagoland Speedway August 20 - Michigan International Speedway Sept. 2 - California Speedway Sept. 30 - Kansas Speedway
"Working with a NASCAR champion like Tony Stewart is a perfect fit for Old Spice," said Carl Stealey, Old Spice brand manager. "With more NASCAR fans choosing Old Spice than any other deodorant, it makes perfect sense for us to expand our Busch Series race schedule in 2006."
From the beginning of Stewart's career, more than a quarter century ago, he has proven to be a champion every step of the way. The Columbus, Ind. native ended the season with his second career Nextel Cup Series title in seven seasons, eight other auto racing championships and top-10 ranking in each of his Nextel Cup seasons. Stewart became just the 14th driver in NASCAR history with more than one championship and joined four-time winner Jeff Gordon as the only active full-time drivers with multiple titles.
Finishing first in points in 2005, with five wins, Stewart had a very strong season. "I feel very fortunate to have a leading brand like Old Spice behind me," said Stewart. "Since our partnership started back in 2000, this is the second time I've come home with the Cup and I'm shooting for an equally successful season in the Busch Series."
