SILVER CROWN TEST SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY

INDIANAPOLIS – USAC will conduct a Silver Crown tire test Monday at
Homestead-Miami Speedway in preparation for the series’ first race ever on a
1.5-mile track next month.

Several drivers, including Florida natives Dave Steele, Wayne Reutimann Jr.
and Bryn Gohn, are expected to be on hand to lap the track. The test is open
to all Silver Crown Series drivers, car owners, teams and chassis builders,
as well as the media and public.

Hoosier Tires will continue its development for a tire durable enough to
last 100 miles at the competitive speeds for the new cars. Additionally, the
test will give rookies the opportunity to garner experience on the big oval.

Two tests of the car have already been conducted at the Homestead track.
Veterans Jason McCord, now retired, and Jay Drake logged more than 170 laps
last March in the prototype car, while car owner Kenny Adams shook down his
mount for regular driver Gohn, who drives a Devin Racing Chassis.

“This was a whole new experience for me, because I’d never driven on
anything bigger than a mile, and I hadn’t raced many cars without wings.”
said Adams, who resides with his wife and Bryn in Malabar.

Reutimann, of Zephyrhills, is looking to get comfortable in Monday’s test.

“We’re just down there to build familiarity,” Reutimann said. “That means a
lot when we go back down there to race. We’ll be pressed for time when we go
down there to race because there will be other divisions on the track, so it
’ll help to have things in place when we get down there.”

Ron McMahon, Vice President of Riley Technologies, has been pleased with
previous tests at the track, and said he expects the cars will be ready for
the March race.

“From our test last year I think we will find that the cars are very stable
and are going to provide some outstanding racing at Homestead,” said
McMahon, who expects the Riley chassis owners to focus on getting up to
speed on the new Hoosier radial tires as well as gain comfort at the higher
speeds.

C&R Racing President Chris Paulsen, whose chassis ended up in Victory Lane
in the season opener at Phoenix International Raceway, expects to do several
things during the test.

"We are going to be testing items pertaining to the bigger tracks like oil
coolers and different chassis set-ups,” Paulsen said. “At the same time we
are going to be trying various parts for USAC to further evaluate their
rules package.”

The only track bigger than Homestead to have hosted a Silver Crown race was
the 1.25-mile Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill., from
1997-2001.
