Pontiac G6 Hardtop Convertible's Televised Cross Country Road Trip Has Surprise Ending
DETROIT – When Pontiac donated a new G6 Hardtop Convertible to the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” show for a widely-publicized cross-country road trip to the Super Bowl, they saved the best news for last: the passengers each got to take a new G6 Convertible home with them.
The two winners (chosen out of 1,400 entries) were Adrion Saenz, 34, of Woodfield , Colo. , and Bri Medley, a student at Washington State University in Pullman , Wash. Each knew that they were receiving tickets to the Super Bowl, and that they would also attend the taping of Jimmy’s Super Bowl Sunday Night Special following the game. What they didn’t know was that Jimmy Kimmel would present them each with keys to their own brand new G6 Convertibles during the show.
“These two contestants were great sports,” said Dino Bernacchi, Pontiac advertising manager. “We wanted to make their trip in the G6 Convertible more memorable for them and more memorable for the people who lived through it vicariously by watching the Kimmel show.”
The trip began Friday, January 27 in Los Angeles with Guillermo the security guard – a regular “cast member” on the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” show – behind the wheel. During his journey to Detroit , Guillermo stopped twice to surprise the two lucky winners who submitted 25-word essays on why they would be good road trippers.
The Pontiac G6 Convertible road trip was part of the Kimmel show’s Detroit Super Bowl week broadcasts from Detroit ’s Gem Theatre, where Pontiac was the official automotive sponsor. The show also featured musical performances on the Pontiac Garage stage by artists with Detroit connections, such as Kid Rock, the Four Tops and Dwele.
All Pontiac Garage musical performances can be accessed on the Pontiac Garage website (www.pontiac.com/garage) and the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” website (www.jimmykimmellive.net).
