Johnson Controls Welcomes Two Executives to Lead Key Business Initiatives

MILWAUKEE, Feb. 3 -- Johnson Controls announced it has named Charles A. Harvey vice president of diversity and public affairs and a corporate officer, reporting to chairman and CEO John M. Barth.

The company also has named Brian W. Cooke as vice president - manufacturing and technology, of the building efficiency business, reporting to C. David Myers, president of the building efficiency business.
A welcome reception will be held Monday, February 6, 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., at the Pfister Hotel, 424 E. Wisconsin Avenue, in the Cafe Rouge room.
The company's senior management and the African-American Affinity Network (AAAN) are sponsoring the reception. The AAAN is an employee resource group dedicated to help improve the competitiveness of Johnson Controls as the employer of choice for African-American professionals.
In his new assignment, Harvey will be responsible for Johnson Controls' workforce and supplier diversity initiatives, community relations efforts, and public affairs programs. He will oversee the company's Blue Sky initiative, which focuses on corporate social responsibility, and will also direct the company's philanthropic work by serving as President of the Johnson Controls Foundation, as well as global charitable giving under the Blue Sky program.
An important component of Harvey's role will be to preserve and extend Johnson Controls leadership in minority business development, including the company's presence in the "Billion Dollar Roundtable," comprised of 14 U.S. companies with over $1 billion in annual purchases from minority- and women- owned businesses.
Harvey had previously served as Automotive Group (now Interior Experience) Vice President of Human Resources. He joined the company in 1991 as Manager Recruiting and Staffing and subsequently held a number of other assignments in human resources. He holds a BA in English from Minnesota's St. John's University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Brian Cooke is vice president - manufacturing and technology in the building efficiency business of Johnson Controls. He has held this position since October 2005. In this role, he is responsible for developing and deploying product and manufacturing strategies globally. Previously, Brian held various positions within the Interior Experience business of Johnson Controls, Inc. Most recently he was based in Burscheid, Germany and served as Vice President of Product Development and Engineering, Marketing and Industrial Design. He has also held Customer Business Unit leadership positions in Europe, as well as worldwide responsibility for Strategic Planning.
Prior to joining Johnson Controls, Inc. Brian held positions within Frito- Lay Inc., Booz-Allen & Hamilton Inc., and Johnson & Johnson. Brian obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and has a bachelor's in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
