Brazil Flexes Auto Sugar Fuel Usage
400% Global Increase in Ethanol Demand by 2010 Forecast
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Feb. 1, 2006: Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture is planning to increase the area of sugar cane cultivation in the country by 2.5 million hectares to meet the demand for sugar and alcohol production. The demand for 'flex' cars capable of burning both gasoline and alcohol will create continuing pressure on fuel consumption sources and price, which will be exacerbated by the reduction in world sugar supplies.
