Alliance to Save Energy President Kateri Callahan Available for Comment on Energy in State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31, 2006 -- President Bush is expected to call for greater U.S. energy independence in his State of the Union address tonight, and he may discuss alternative transportation technologies such as plug-in hybrid vehicles. Following the president's speech, Alliance to Save Energy President Kateri Callahan will be available to comment on energy -- and energy efficiency-related topics.

The Alliance is part of the new Plug-in Partners campaign (http://www.pluginpartners.org/), a national grassroots initiative to demonstrate to automakers that a market exists today for flexible-fuel Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

We also note that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is a partner in the Alliance's Power is in Your Hands campaign (http://www.powerisinyourhands.org/), which brings together business, industry, utilities, trade associations, federal agencies, and community groups in an effort to reduce energy use and, thereby, lower energy prices.
