FLORIDA FORD FOCUS SERIES KICKS OFF MONDAY WITH THREE-RACE
SWING
INDIANAPOLIS - USAC Ford Focus Midget Car Series racing begins its 2006
season next week with the debut of a new region in The Sunshine State.
The Florida Ford Focus Midget Car Series kicks off its inaugural season with
the first of seven scheduled races – deemed the “Tangerine Tournament” – in
February, the first three coming Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at East Bay
Raceway Park in Tampa.
The series joins already formed series in the Midwest, California,
Carolina/Virginia, Oklahoma and Northeast, as well as the new Mid-Atlantic
and Indiana regions.
Two-time defending Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Midget Car Series champion
Chase Scott is one of several pre-entries for the inaugural race. Scott, one
of Ford Focus racing’s leaders in victories, won the only other Ford Focus
race in Florida, a special event Dec. 2 at Orlando Speedworld.
Other pre-entered drivers include Scott’s older brother Ryan,
Carolina/Virginia veteran Terry Hall, Midwest drivers Arin McIntosh and Luke
and Nick Daugherty and Northeast regular Ryan Smith, who won the first race
in that series’ history last season.
Additional races in the Florida region will be announced when dates are
firm.
