MOPAR NHRA PRO STOCKERS DEBUT NEW LOOK FOR 2006
January 26, 2006
Center Line, Mich. - Secret photos of the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock machines
piloted by Richie Stevens Jr., and Allen Johnson have been circulating through
cyberspace lately, but it can now be confirmed that the duo will be competing
with a new paint scheme for the 2006 racing season.
Race fans may do a double-take when the Don Schumacher Racing and J&J Racing
entries hit the track for the upcoming NHRA Pro Stock Super Bowl. Stevens Jr.,
and Johnson will carry a new "midnight camo" paint scheme on their Mopar
machines for the upcoming season opener.
"This new look is really different and refreshing," Johnson said. "You can
really see the cars; they stand out well on the track. I think that the fans
will be better able to recognize our cars on the track, especially at night,
because of the reflective tape on the logos. Mopar and Competition Graphics have
put together another innovative way to make our team stand out."
The "midnight camo" scheme was designed by Competition Graphics of Farmington
Hills, Mich. The Don Schumacher Racing and J&J Racing teams will carry the
scheme throughout the entire 2006 season.
After years of the traditional blue, black and silver Mopar scheme, Stevens
Jr., looks forward to the debut of the new look.
"The new scheme is really cool. We really like it," Stevens Jr., said. "It's
very different from anything that's been run before. Mopar is always doing
different things and keeping us in front of the public eye. I think that the new
paint scheme will help keep us in everyone's mind this year."
Stevens Jr., and Johnson will kick off their official season with the NHRA
Winternationals at Pomona Raceway on February 9-12. A second NHRA Pro Stock
driver for the Don Schumacher Racing team has yet to be named.
