New Medio Puts a Spin on the Traditional Corporate Christmas Gift
TULSA, Okla.--Jan. 2, 20065, 2006--The owners of New Medio put a spin on traditional corporate gift-giving by presenting each of their employees with a new Breezer commuter bicycle at the company's Christmas party last month."We contemplated giving everyone a Christmas ham, or a gift card for a McRib - you know they're back - but we opted for the gift of health," said Chris Zenthoefer, CEO of New Medio.
New Medio decided to do its part in this country's fight against expanding waistlines, king-sized appetites and insatiable thirst for gas-guzzling vehicles by fostering a corporate culture that promotes cycling to and from work and around downtown Tulsa.
"Aside from the obvious health benefits of cycling, I believe that riding bikes creates a stronger sense of community because people aren't isolated in their cars," said Zenthoefer.
New Medio felt the bicycle gift corresponded with its goal of being a more eco-friendly company. New Medio has been working towards more environmentally friendly habits with other programs including BTYFI (Better Than You Found It), pronounced "beautify."
"It's a small step, but we hope to challenge our employees and the community to re-examine decisions that impact the environment. On Ozone Alert days, New Medio encourages its employees to find alternate forms of transportation. Last summer that encouragement paid off when a number of employees began biking to work. This year we are hoping all of our people will start riding in," said Joel Embry, Vice President of New Medio.
New Medio is a design firm based in the historic Greenwood district of downtown Tulsa. The firm's employees produce client projects for brands, applications and movements that represent a lifelong commitment to leaving the world better than they found it. For more information visit: www.newmedio.com
