DaimlerChrysler, Michigan Chronicle/FrontPAGE Team Up to Highlight Metro Detroit's 40 Hottest Restaurants and Night Spots

DETROIT, Jan. 25, 2006 -- The Michigan Front PAGE/Chronicle is kicking off the Big Game celebration with a special publication, XL-D, Detroit's Big Game Hot Spots Guide. The pocket guide, sponsored by DaimlerChrysler, will highlight Metro Detroit's 40 hottest restaurants and night spots and feature sizzling Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles.

"It's the 'must taste' and 'must do' list when in the 'D,' Detroit that is," said Marcus Amick, creative/project director for the XL-D Hot Spots Guide.

Thousands of the XL-D Hot Spots Guides will be available starting Jan. 25, free of charge, at various Metro Detroit and Windsor locations, including the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, hotels, restaurants, clubs and tourist attractions. To hear more about the XL-D Hot Spots Guide, tune into Fox 2/WJBK-TV, FM 98/WJLB and Clear Channel's 95.5.

At the XL-D Hot Spots Guide website, http://www.xlhotspots.com/ , fans can register for DaimlerChrysler's XL-D Hot Spots Tour Sweepstakes, where one lucky winner and a guest will join Ralph Gilles, designer of the award-winning Chrysler 300, on Saturday, Feb. 4, for several "Big Game" celebrations. The evening will include dinner, VIP access to some of the "Big Game" celebrity bashes and a driver for the evening.

The runner-up will receive dinner for two at the hot Metro Detroit restaurant Ristorante Cafe Cortina. The second runner-up will receive a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge brand merchandise gift certificate.

The sweepstakes is open through Jan. 31. The winner will be announced on Feb. 2, on FOX 2.

Contestants can enter by logging on to http://www.xlhotspots.com/ , http://www.fox2detroit.com/ , http://www.fm98wjlb.com/ or http://www.channel955.com/ .

"The XL-D Hot Spots Guide is really a celebration of Metro Detroit as an entertainment destination and a guide on where to be for the 'Big Game,'" said Amick. "The fact that DaimlerChrysler wanted to sponsor the guide and sweepstakes made it even more exciting because it gave us the opportunity to make some really cool connections with their vehicles and some of Metro Detroit's hot restaurants and night spots."

The XL-D Hot Spots Guide also features prominent celebrities such as Motown recording artist KEM, FOX 2 anchor Fanchon Stinger, the Detroit Pistons' Chauncey Billups, WJLB radio personality MC Serch and Ralph Gilles, sharing some of their favorite restaurants or sites in Metro Detroit.

"DaimlerChrysler saw the Big Game Hot Spot Guide and contest as a great opportunity to celebrate and showcase Metropolitan Detroit's international flavor, cultures and entertainment," said Jason Vines, Chrysler Group vice president of Communications. "Plus, what's a 'hot spot' without a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle to spice things up? Part of the fun and excitement of a 'hot spot' is the attention you get when you step out of a 'hot' ride."

DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge vehicle line-up is prominently displayed in the guide as featured vehicles parked at several of Metro Detroit's hot spots. The XL-D Hot Spot Guide offers a taste of Metro Detroit ranging from the Dodge Charger SRT8 at American Coney Island in downtown Detroit to the Chrysler 300C SRT8 at Birmingham's City Cellar.

The website, http://www.xlhotspots.com/ , also features a photo gallery of DaimlerChrysler vehicles at popular area restaurants and night spots.

"As an entity that knows metro Detroit and its people, this project was a perfect fit for the Michigan Chronicle/FrontPAGE and all of our partners," added Amick.

Michigan Chronicle/FrontPAGE's XL-D Big Game Hot Spots Guide pocket guide was sponsored by DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands with media sponsors FOX 2, WJLB FM 98 and 955.
