Tire Rack SCCA National Tour 2006 Debut Just Weeks Away
Tire Rack SCCA National Tour 2006 Debut Just Weeks Away
TOPEKA, Kan. (Jan. 24, 2006) - It is the middle of January, and at
Heartland Park Topeka, where thousands of people will gather later this
year for the Tire Rack(r) SCCA Solo National Championships, there is
only bare asphalt. A lot of it. Like, literally a million square feet
of it.
Nearby the expansive slab, piles of dirt are steadily being replaced by
standing structures, signs that the rebuilding of HPT is in full swing.
The changes also serve as a reminder that the starts of both the 2006
Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Tour and Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo National
Series are just weeks away.
So while the HPT asphalt lies dormant for now, soloists all across the
country are fully awake, scrambling to assemble their cars and their
cars' pieces in time to start putting the 2006 Solo Nationals puzzle
together.
The first piece of that jigsaw is in the form of a peninsula, as in
Florida, where the first stop on the 2006 Solo National Tour is set to
run Feb. 18-19 at the Buckingham Airfield in Ft. Myers, Fla.
Florida, which will always hold a distinct advantage over virtually the
entire country in terms of mid-winter climate, is presenting an even
stronger case for soloists to trek into Ft. Myers in 2006.
For the first time, the SCCA Southeastern Division (SEDIV) is offering
its competitors a chance to turn the Ft. Myers National Tour event into
a huge points opportunity as the weekend will also be the first of the
four-round RFR Race Parts Southeast Divisional Championship. While new
to SEDIV, making Divisional Championships a part of National events is
not a new practice. The Northern Pacific Division (NORPAC) has
practiced that concept for years and 2006 will be the same, with two
National Tour stops counting toward the NORPAC Divisional crown.
Contingency programs for 2006, featuring manufacturer, tire and brake
programs, are now available through www.scca.com <http://www.scca.com/>
by clicking on the "Solo" button on the left side of the homepage. From
there, click on the "Contingency" button on the left side of the page to
view the programs for both National Tour and ProSolo events.
If points and contingencies weren't enough, heading to Florida will also
rekindle the legendary friendships that form the foundation of the SCCA
Solo community. Many competitors who have not seen one another since
Topeka last September will come together for yet another year to show
off their revamped rides, their improved skills and build new memories
while revisiting old ones.
With all of that happening at just the first SCCA Solo National Tour
event in Ft. Myers, there are a million reasons to register. Or, a
reason for every square foot of Solo National Championship space at HPT.
Those who take part in the Ft. Myers event will be the first competitors
to take a step toward breaking in Topeka's new asphalt playground.
Competitors can register online by going to the 2006 Ft. Myers National
Tour event homepage at www.scca.com <http://www.scca.com/> . They may
also register either by downloading the PDF entry form and faxing it to
785-232-7215 or contacting the Solo Department at 1-800-770-2055.
