Toyota to Boost Pickup Truck Production in Mexico
(JCN) Jan 23, 2006 - Toyota Motor announced its plan to increase Tacoma pickup truck production at Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Baja California (TMMBC) in Tijuana, Mexico, on January 23.
Toyota will invest $37 million to raise the pickup truck output capacity from the current 30,000 to 50,000 units by 2007. Plans also call for expanding the plant's truck bed production capacity from the current 180,000 to 200,000 units by 2007.
TMMBC makes all Tocoma truck beds, supplying them New United Motor Manufacturing (NUMMI), Toyota's joint venture with General Motors in California which manufactures the Tacoma and other vehicles.
