Dell Lands DaimlerChrysler Global Supplier Award; Company Lauded for Quality, Cost, Technology and Supply
ROUND ROCK, Texas--Jan. 2, 20063, 2006--Dell today was recognized as a DaimlerChrysler AG global supplier of the year based on outstanding performance as an international provider of workstations, enterprise servers and storage systems.The award was one of eight handed out at the 2006 North American International Auto Show to suppliers with annual business volume of more than $1.2 million.
"We consider the support of our supply base to be an indispensable contribution to DaimlerChrysler's success in today's automotive marketplace," said Thomas W. Sidlik, a DaimlerChrysler AG Board of Management member, responsible for global procurement and supply.
Dell continues to provide DaimlerChrysler with networked desktops, notebooks, workstations, enterprise servers and storage systems. DaimlerChrysler also relies on Dell to support its client and server/storage environments with planning, implementation and maintenance capabilities. Dell provides DaimlerChrysler migration services and assistance with deployment of Active Directory. Additionally Dell provides managed lifecycle and deployment services including Custom Factory Integration, help desk support, program management, and asset recovery services. Dell also provides a purchase program for active, retired and contract employees of the automaker and its affiliates.
Awards were presented in eight categories: interior, exterior, chassis, electrical/electronics, powertrain, manufacturing goods and services, logistics and general goods and services. Dell won in the latter category.
Winners are chosen based on performance in quality, technology, supply and systems cost.
