Cameron Motorsports strong on opening day of Florida Winter Tour

HOMESTEAD, FLA January 22, 2006; Cameron Motorsports kicked off its 2006 karting schedule with it's 'elite' team traveling to Homestead Florida to contest the opening round of the Florida Winter Tour, held at Homestead Karting, part of the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

After showing well in practice and qualifying, the teams six drivers scored three top fives for their first day's work. Leading the group was Corey Usher in Expert Shifter. Usher finished third, and was followed in fourth by teammate Gianmaro Raimondo.

Mike Vincec led the team in the headline Pro Shifter class with a fifth place finish. Maxime Pelletier was ninth, and Kyle Marcelli came home 19 after problems during the final.

In Rotax Junior, Joshua Korenyi finished 12th. Owner Bob Cameron was happy with the first day. "We had our ups and downs today, but we are competitive in every class," said Cameron. "I think the team will step up on Sunday, and our results will be much better."

Sunday will be round two of the six round Florida Winter Tour, with the next rounds taking place on February 11 12 at Moroso Motorsports Park in Jupiter, Fl, and the final round will be held on March 4-5 at Ocala, Fl.
