STEELE EARNS NATIONAL/WESTERN MIDGET POLE AT PHOENIX
AVONDALE, Ariz. – Dave Steele’s love of and skill at Phoenix International
Raceway continued Saturday as he earned the pole for Sunday’s
National/Western Midget Car Series “Fast Signs 25,” part of the “Copper
World Classic.”
Steele, the four-time reigning champion of the Silver Crown Series race,
posted a time of 26.578 seconds during qualifications to begin a new era in
Toyota Motorsports history. Steele is driving one of two Toyota cars for
owner Steve Lewis.
Steele, of Tampa, Fla., is scheduled to start fourth in Sunday’s Silver
Crown race.
Bobby East of Brownsburg, Ind. recorded the second fast time of the
afternoon and will start alongside Steele when the green flag flies to begin
the race, the season opener for both the National and Western Series.
Defending National champion Josh Wise will start 10th.
