Lobbying in the EU: How to represent and defend your interests in Brussels

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am writing to inform you that the highly successful Lobbying in the EU: How to represent and defend your interests in Brussels workshop will again be held in Brussels at Le Chatelain All Suite Hotel, Brussels on the 27th and 28th of March 2006 and we are now accepting registrations.

This 1 and a ½ day workshop, which has recently been held in Poland, Turkey and of course Brussels, has been specifically designed to cater for individuals who are not always able to take extended periods away from the office, but who still require, whether on behalf of their organisations or personally, a relevant and timely forum where the way Europe works, the role of the lobbyist in the decision-making process and how best to represent and defend interests in Brussels, is explained in a concise and accessible manner.

This workshop is based around 4 core elements:

- the EU institutional landscape
- the relations between these institutions
- the decision-making processes, and
- the ways to work and influence the system

This workshop is organised in partnership with Grayling Political Strategy and run by Mr. Russell Patten, Chief Executive of Grayling Brussels and the President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Brussels.

Day 1 will introduce you to the institutions, the decision-making procedures and illustrate with the use of case studies, how to put an effective lobbying strategy together. Complimenting Russell Patten's extensive experience will be a guest speaker (tbc).

Day 1 Evening: Dinner with guest* : The evening dinner is optional and is charged at a rate of €60+VAT per person. Please note, if you would like to attend the dinner, please contact us direct before making your payment. Places are limited at the table and we wish to ensure correct processing of your details.

Day 2 is a practical session where you will work with your group to produce a lobbying campaign based around a particular piece of legislation. This will be supported by our industry guest speaker who will present their expert knowledge and experience (tbc). Light refreshments will be available. Day 2 finishes at 13.00hrs, allowing you to return to your office if necessary.

The result of attending this workshop is a rounded, well-informed appreciation of how the EU works, how it will possibly develop given the current political landscape, and where your role as stakeholder and lobbyists fits within the decision-making process. Crucially, you will come away understanding how best to promote your cause and position - something with a real and tangible value.

The course has been tailored to meet the needs of those representing both corporate and NGO interests within Brussels, those with an interest in the European political climate, and is an opportunity to either top-up or develop your existing knowledge. Our competitive pricing strategy reflects our commitment to the dissemination of affordable, high-quality information to EU companies and organisations.
