ALEXANDRIA, VA (JAN. 18) -- The American International Automobile Dealers will host an energy symposium to address the topic of “Sustaining Mobility in an Energy Challenged World.” The symposium, moderated by Warren Brown, “On Wheels” columnist for The Washington Post, will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at 2:15 p.m. EST at the Washington Convention Center (Street Level (L Street) Room 103A), and will be in connection with the Washington Auto Show media day.
“With the rising cost of fuel, consumers have had to re-evaluate their automotive needs,” commented AIADA President Marianne McInerney. “We see this energy symposium as one of many avenues which will support and continue the dialogue between the automotive industry, government officials, and leading minds in energy efficiency.”
The symposium will feature prominent automotive industry executives and speakers from relevant government agencies discussing, in a panel format, global perspectives on energy technology and policy as well as recent developments and challenges for the auto industry in lieu of the surge in energy prices.
In addition, guests will hear commentary on new products and advances in alternative fuels as well as the role the auto industry should take in promoting alternative fuel vehicles and other technologies.
Panelists for the symposium include:
Mike Jackson, CEO & Chairman of AutoNation; Don Beyer, AIADA Chairman-Elect and former Lieutenant Governor of Virginia; Ed Mortimer, U.S. Chamber Transportation Policy Director and author of the recent National Chamber Foundation report, Future Highway and Public Transportation Financing; Ed Cohen, Vice President of Government Relations for Honda North America; and Sam Kazman, General Counsel and head of the Death by Regulation project for the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
