Honda begins building transmission factory in China
BEIJING January 14, 2006: Japan Today reported that Honda Motor Co said Friday it has begun building a factory in China to make automobile transmissions as part of its plan to expand auto production there.
The Japanese automaker said it will invest $98 million for the new factory in Guangdong Province. It will go online in the spring of 2007 with an annual output of 240,000 units. Honda intends to expand its automobile production in China to 530,000 vehicles by the second half of this year from the current 320,000 units, it said.
