Cars Owned by Elvis, Paul McCartney, Van Halen and Alice Cooper Gather at Barrett-Jackson Auction

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--Jan. 13, 2006--The 35th anniversary Barrett-Jackson "World's Greatest Classic Car Event" will auction at no reserve vehicles once or currently owned by some of the greatest rock and roll legends of all time. Each car, including Elvis' personal Lincoln limousine and a 1967 Shelby G.T.500 that was restored by Van Halen front man Sammy Hagar, is available at no reserve during the event from Jan. 14, 2006-22, 2006. A special-edition Cadillac CTS Sport owned by Paul and Heather McCartney will also be displayed throughout the weeklong event at WestWorld as a preview for its sale in Palm Beach, Fla., later this year. In addition, a broad group of music superstars will attend the event, which will be televised on SPEED Channel over 33 hours of live coverage.

For fans of both rock and cars, this will be a moment in history!"

One of the most historic and noteworthy cars to be auctioned is Elvis Presley's 1965 Lincoln Mark V limousine. With only 33,000 actual miles and every option available, including rear power privacy glass and front and rear air conditioning, the Mark V, serial number 32, is a fantastic example of this already special vehicle. A copy of the bill of sale and power of attorney signed by the King himself, which authorized the purchase of the car, will also be included with the car as well as others, creating an amazing paper trail which tracks the Lincoln's build to its ultimate delivery to Elvis.

Also available are a host of concept cars built by Bonspeed, a company owned by Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony. These include a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup dubbed "Banshee" that has a supercharged V-8 taken from a Ford GT, and a 2005 "Black Rose" Mustang with a 500+ horsepower V-8 under its custom bodywork, one-off wheels and tens of thousands of dollars of audio/video equipment.

The wildest of the musician cars undoubtedly goes to rocker Alice Cooper's 1939 customized Lincoln Zephyr two-door hot rod. Featuring power windows, A/C, keyless remote entry and a GM V-8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission, Cooper's Lincoln is a daily driver with a bit of extra kick.

On display will be a special Cadillac CTS Sport owned by former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Heather. The car, which will be sold during Barrett-Jackson's Palm Beach event in April 2006, was specifically designed for the McCartneys by GM. Their team had specific instructions that it could not contain any product made from an animal. All the proceeds of the car's sale in Palm Beach will go to Adopt-A-Minefield, which raises money for minefield clearance and survivor assistance in conjunction with the United Nations.
