Suppliers Partnership for the Environment Recognizes EPA for 35 Years of Service to Our Nation's Environment
DETROIT, Jan. 12, 2006 -- Today at the North America International Auto Show (NAIAS), the Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) recognized U.S. EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) with an award congratulating the U.S. EPA for 35 years of service to the nation's environment. SP is an innovative partnership between automobile original equipment manufacturers and their suppliers and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
"This year marks the 35th Anniversary of the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the members of the Suppliers Partnership for the Environment wanted to recognize the Agency for its leadership in partnering with organizations such as SP that are committed to improving environmental performance while providing value throughout the automobile supply chain," said Randy Leslie, SP's Chair and Vice President and General Manager, Johnson Controls, Inc. "We are very pleased that Administrator Johnson has joined us as we celebrate the very positive ways that EPA and industry can work together as partners to find creative solutions and flexible approaches to improving the environment and the economy."
