INITIAL USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR SERIES SCHEDULE SHOWS 36 DATES
INDIANAPOLIS – The initial 2006 USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series schedule,
released today, shows 36 dates in California, Arizona and Washington state.
The series, currently scheduled with feature events at five tracks, is set
to begin Jan. 21 at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz. The half-mile
track, which also hosted the CRA season opener last year in conjunction with
the “Copper World Classic” at Phoenix International Raceway, is scheduled to
host seven features, including the “Western World Championships” in
November.
The series’ anchor track, Perris Auto Speedway in California, will host over
half of the features. Promoter Don Kazarian, who on Saturday was honored as
the Western States Organizer of the Year, has scheduled 22 events on his
half-mile, including the “Budweiser Oval Nationals” and the season finale
“Kindoll Classic.”
Return trips for the series include visits to the 1/5-mile Ventura Raceway
on three occasions and two races each at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway and
Skagit Speedway near Burlington, Wash. for the third straight season.
The series also expects to add other races, and those will be announced when
dates are firm. The schedule is also open for three weeks in July to allow
regular participants the opportunity to compete in the annual “Indiana
Sprint Week” for the National Sprint Car Series.
“We’re very excited about the schedule of races we have so far,” said CRA
series coordinator Chris Morgan. “We’re looking forward to having another
great and safe season of racing.”
Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. won 15 features and set 22 fast times in
2005 en route to winning the title.
