Rural/Metro Awarded 911 Fire Contract Renewal in Paradise Valley, Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 10, 2006 -- Rural/Metro Corporation announced today that it has been awarded an exclusive licensing agreement to continue providing fire and first responder emergency medical services in the Town of Paradise Valley, Arizona. The six-year licensing agreement was unanimously approved by the Paradise Valley Town Council on December 15, 2005 and finalized on January 3, 2006 extending the Company's uninterrupted 53-year relationship with the community.

The renewal contract is scheduled to begin immediately, and is based on a subscriber model formula in which the Company receives an annual subscription fee based on the square footage of residential and commercial properties within the town.

Barry Landon, President of Southwest Ambulance and the Rural/Metro Fire Department, commented, "Our relationship with the Town of Paradise Valley is one of our oldest and highly valued, and we are pleased to renew our contract. We remain committed to providing the highest levels of fire protection and patient care, while continuing to reinforce our position as a trusted partner within the community."

Rural/Metro Fire Department has been serving the Town of Paradise Valley since 1952. Over the past year, Rural/Metro has expanded operations to better serve the Town by opening a second fire station with a four-firefighter crew in June.

"We are pleased to extend our 50-plus years of service to the Town of Paradise Valley with this new agreement," commented Fire Chief Gary Morris. "Our relationship with the Town of Paradise Valley and the elected officials has been consistently positive, and we are gratified with their commitment to make major enhancements in service delivery for the Town and its residents this past year."

Located in Maricopa County, Arizona, the Town of Paradise Valley reported a total population of more than 13,000 residents as of the 2000 census. The Town is located adjacent to Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona and is home to nine resorts, making it one of Arizona's premiere tourist destinations.
