BURSCHEID, Germany and DETROIT, Michigan, January 6, 2006; Johnson Controls , one of the world's leading suppliers of automotive interior systems, electronics and batteries, will present its new products and technologies at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit from 8-12 January 2006. The company has been a sponsor of the NAIAS for the past 12 years and is also a host of the AutoWeek Design Forum taking place on 11 January 2006. Johnson Controls will present numerous new product innovations in an 800 square-meter exhibit space within Room D2-15 of Detroit's Cobo Center. The company will hold two press conferences, to take place at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, 8 January 2006, and at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 January 2006.
At the first press conference, Johnson Controls will unveil the company's innovations for improved access to rear seats. In addition, the company will present information about its strategic business alignment and supply contracts it has recently been awarded.
"Our Focus...You" - the official exhibit theme for Johnson Controls - is also reflected in the company's activities at the 2006 NAIAS.
"We have a strong emphasis on understanding the needs and delivering value to our automotive customers around the world, as well as the vehicle buyers they serve," said Keith Wandell, President of the Automotive Group and Executive Vice President of Johnson Controls. "This strong focus on the customer will be reflected throughout our NAIAS display."

One of the many products Johnson Controls will present is EZaxis Seating, which provides for quick, passenger-friendly access to third-row seats. Along with this, new seating solutions designed to optimize comfort, quality, safety and performance play a major role. Particularly in the area of safety, advanced and active safety technologies reduce the risk of whiplash as well as that of passenger pelvic and leg injuries.
Furthermore, new materials and overhead concepts will be presented that allow passengers to customize the automotive interior. Visitors will also be shown a wide array of innovative instrument panels, multifunctional displays and floor and overhead consoles and systems.
New batteries and energy-management technologies for current and future applications in hybrid electric vehicles will also be presented.
In addition, visitors can learn about a mid-class sport utility vehicle with a gas/electric power system. It features a lithium-ion battery system that was developed and integrated by Johnson Controls.
These new products are complemented by current electronic innovations such as BlueConnect, a wireless connectivity system integrated into the vehicle; AutoVision, the rear-seat entertainment system; and HomeLink, a technology that links the vehicle with the driver's home.
Apart from exhibiting at the show, Johnson Controls will sponsor the AutoWeek Design Forum for the 10th consecutive year. The one-day event, taking place on 11 January 2006, in the Cobo Center, brings together people of various backgrounds and disciplines who share a common belief that the design is an important differentiator. Last year's AutoWeek Design Forum drew more than 700 participants, including professional automotive designers as well as students and designers from other industries.
