Mini-box.com to Showcase Low Cost Car PC at Lunch@Piero's Media Event During CES; Sub-$300 VoomPC Car PC Platform Compatible With Many Peripherals; Eliminates Power Surges and Car Battery Drain
LAS VEGAS--Jan. 5, 2006--Mini-box.com, a subsidiary of Ituner Networks Corp., will demonstrate the VoomPC(TM) family of low power, high performance car PCs at Lunch@Piero's, a special private media event during CES. Based on the small form factor VIA EPIA Mini-ITX platform and with its own smart 12V power supply unit, the VoomPC will be showcased in a Chevrolet SSR, featuring nearly invisible installation. The VoomPC will run navigation, productivity and entertainment with superior audio and video for users ranging from automotive enthusiasts to vehicle-dependent professional services such as law enforcement, ambulances, and commercial transport where access to data on the road is mandatory. The VoomPC is an industry standard X86 computer that runs Linux or Windows, enabling easy integration of non-proprietary telematics and other best of breed applications. Whether for serious applications such as security, rescue or delivery services or as an in-vehicle entertainment device, the VoomPC opens the road for a wide range of peripherals and telematics functions such as GPS navigation, and communication, as well as audio and video applications.
Smart Power Management
The M1-ATX intelligent power supply for the VoomPC manages downtime battery use by using intelligent schemes for cutting off various functions at predetermined times and shutting the computer down completely when the car battery drops below 11 volts. Using VIA Technologies' native x86 embedded processors, the total power consumption of the VoomPC ranges between 15-30 watts, consuming less than the dimmest car parking lights while offering sophisticated PC functionality.
Superior Audio
The VoomPC 'anti-thump' control keeps amplifiers turned off while the PC starts, eliminating annoying thumps and pops. Using state of the art audio chipsets such as the VIA VT1616 six channel audio chipset, the VoomPC brings 6-channel performance and a 3D sound experience to the car environment.
The VoomPC is now shipping, shattering the industry's low cost barrier with the barebones version ranging from $299 to $399.
