Tymphany Corporation Announces First Tymphany Linear Array Transducer Products and Alpine Electronics Design Win; New Tymphany LAT Products Represent Major Subwoofer Technology Breakthrough

LAS VEGAS--Jan. 5, 2006--Tymphany(TM) Corporation, a leader in innovative audio solutions, today introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) the Tymphany LAT 500 and Tymphany LAT 700, the first products based on its revolutionary, patent-pending Linear Array Transducer (LAT) technology. Tymphany also announced that Alpine Electronics, the world's leading automotive specialist for premium sound systems, is introducing new automotive aftermarket Tymphany LAT-based products. The Alpine Powered LAT Subwoofer Systems received a 2006 CES Innovations Design and Engineering award in the Vehicle Audio Category.

The Tymphany LAT 500 and Tymphany LAT 700 products represent the first significant breakthrough in subwoofer technology in many decades. The Tymphany LAT 500 packs the power of two 10-inch subwoofers into a sleek, efficient, tube-shaped package that is approximately 5 inches in diameter and 15 inches long. It can generate sound across a range of frequencies from 30 to 300 Hz. The Tymphany LAT 700 is the equivalent of two 12-inch subwoofers in a streamlined 7-inch profile that is 18 inches long. It has a frequency range of 20 to 200 Hz.

"The Tymphany LAT has captured the imagination of OEMs in many markets because it takes subwoofers to their next level of performance and design," said Ken Kantor, Tymphany's Chief Technology Officer. "The unique form factor and slim profile mean an OEM designer can differentiate and aesthetically enhance their consumer and professional audio offerings, while improving the bass performance. Our first Tymphany LAT products are especially suited to automotive aftermarket and professional audio applications. Coming soon, even smaller versions will extend the product's reach into the automotive OEM, flat panel television, PC multimedia and personal audio markets."

New Alpine Tymphany LAT-Based Offerings

The Alpine PLT-5 and PLV-7 Powered LAT Subwoofer Systems feature the Tymphany LAT 500 and Tymphany LAT 700, respectively. The Tymphany LAT subwoofers are paired with Alpine's new PDX digital switching amplifiers and Whise Automotive's Ultra Reflex enclosure design technology. The new car audio subwoofers are ideal for space-constrained vehicles. Now it is no longer necessary to fill a trunk or an entire back seat with the equipment needed to accommodate the bulk of a conventional subwoofer. The Powered LAT Subwoofers are on display at CES in the Alpine booth in the North Hall, room N116, and in the Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase in the Sands Expo and Convention Center in the Innovations Plus Design and Engineering Booth, #72444, and in Tymphany's Suite at the Las Vegas Hilton, Suite #2822.

"We believe the Tymphany LAT technology is helping to revolutionize our subwoofer product offerings, and especially products for trucks and SUVs -- vehicles that typically have little or no space to devote to large, traditional cone-shaped subwoofers," says Stephen Witt, Alpine's vice president of Marketing. "When we branded our product, it made sense to incorporate the name of this technology because the Tymphany LAT forms the foundation of this new class of subwoofer systems."

About The Tymphany LAT Technology

The Tymphany LAT is the first audio transducer to bring great bass in a uniquely slim, narrow shape, making it ideal for space-constrained consumer applications, such as automotive and lifestyle products. This efficient form factor is the result of a dramatic departure from conventional cone transducer assembly. Instead of displacing air across a single diaphragm, the Tymphany LAT displaces air using a linear array of multiple smaller diaphragms. These smaller diaphragms are fitted into a streamlined cylindrical shape, packing huge amounts of power into an impressively small space.

The Tymphany LAT is also virtually vibration-free, thus eliminating the potential for the rattling or buzzing that vibration can cause in audio systems. The multiple small diaphragms, which are connected to two opposing motor structures by balanced sets of piston rods, work in a push-push operation that cancels both distortion and mechanical vibration.

Tymphany LAT Products -- Availability
