New DocuTorq(TM) System Delivers Precision At Every Turn
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.--Jan. 5, 2006--CDI Torque Products, a Snap-on company, is leading a revolution in torque technology with the introduction of its groundbreaking new DocuTorq(TM) system.Everyday, torque is applied in thousands of precision-critical industrial and equipment applications in fields as diverse as automotive assembly and aftermarket, agriculture, aerospace and aircraft, transportation, and heavy equipment. A common example for correctly applied torque is automotive and truck wheel lug nuts, a critical application that correlates to safety for vehicle occupants.
"The DocuTorq system delivers precise, documented torque using affordable state-of-the-art technology," said CDI's Division President, Mark Pezzoni. "It sets the standard in critical applications. There's no other tool like it."
The DocuTorq system is comprised of two main units, the Computer Control Station (Base) and the Torque Wrench (Tool). The units communicate through a wireless interface using advanced Bluetooth(R) RF technology. There are no cables or manual re-programming of the tool when the torque setting is changed. Wireless freedom allows DocuTorq to be used virtually anywhere in a work area - up to 120-feet from the Base.
Torque specifications reside in a database accessed via DocuTorq software, or can be manually programmed. Settings are automatically sent to the Tool at the start of each job. The wrench applies and validates the correct amount of torque with each use. The system's innovative control software tracks the torque applied and stores the information for retrieval as needed. Optional software is available to automatically upload torque application results directly to the client's Point of Sale (POS) system or other record archiving structure.
"DocuTorq represents a significant step forward in safety accountability for companies, technicians and even customers," explained Pezzoni. "The system's unique validation, documentation and archiving capabilities contribute to long-term business viability. Traceability of work performance and quality are no longer subject to question. DocuTorq provides documented proof of every torque application," he added.
DocuTorq is ISO certified and integrates seamlessly into existing operations to deliver real-time precision. The unit is compact and simple to use. "It's fast, reliable and easy to learn," explained Pezzoni. "It dramatically impacts business risk and exposure associated with operator error, and further lowers costs by reducing the need for supervisory checks."
