10th Annual International Car of the Year Awards Rev Up In Detroit
Who: ROAD & TRAVEL Magazine presents its 2006 International Car of the Year Awards
What:
* The 10th Annual International Car of the Year Awards (ICOTY) will recognize the Top 10 vehicles for 2006 including: Car of the Year, Truck of the Year, Most Sex Appeal (sports car), Most Athletic (pickup truck), Most Resourceful (SUV), Most Respected (luxury), Most Compatible (minivan), Most Dependable (Sedan) Most Spirited (entry level) and Most Versatile (crossover).
* The third annual Lifetime Achievement Award will honor veteran automotive journalist David E. Davis, Jr. who has been described as "the dean of America's automotive critics" and is widely recognized as the guru of the automobile industry. First and second year recipients, Denise McCluggage and Jerry Flint, respectively, will also be in attendance.
* The second annual HEART STRING Award will be awarded to the automaker and agency with the most emotionally compelling car commercial that ran on national TV in 2005. The three finalists are: Jaguar's "Gorgeous," Dodge's "Bikers" and Nissan's "Take Me Driving in Your Car."
* Special guests include U.S. Congressman John Dingell, Carroll Shelby and Detroit Chief of Police Ella Bully-Cummings. Guest video appearances by Rick Wagoner, Chairman and CEO, General Motors; Jim Press, President and CEO, Toyota; and Tom Purves, Chairman and CEO, BMW North America.
