Yazaki Supplies Technology For 2006 North American International Auto Show 'Car Of The Year' Finalist

CANTON, Mich., Jan. 2, 2006 -- Yazaki North America, Inc. (Yazaki) is pleased to be a supplier of the 2006 Ford Fusion, one of the finalists for the North American Car Of The Year award. Yazaki supplied the complete Electrical Distribution System (EDS) and front Power Distribution Box (PDB) for the Fusion.

"Yazaki's supplying of these systems for the 2006 Ford Fusion is a continuation of our presence on critically-acclaimed vehicles over the years," said Colleen Haley, Ford Business Unit president, Yazaki North America, Inc. "We're proud to add to the quality and capability of the Fusion."

The Yazaki EDS, or wire harness, provides point-to-point transfer of power and data to the entire vehicle electrical infrastructure. The PDB is another integral part of the overall EDS solution and protects the electrical circuits through fusing while distributing and switching the critical vehicle loads.

Yazaki has a history of supplying to acclaimed Ford vehicles, including the Ford Escape Hybrid, which was crowned North American Truck Of The Year in 2005. Yazaki's contributions include two high-voltage cable sets that feature integrated electromagnetic (EMI) shielding in the connectors and cables, as well as safety interlock devices, which are signal control lines that can be used by the OEM to prevent arcing in case of disconnect. Yazaki also supplied the complete EDS for the Ford F-150, which was crowned North American Truck of the Year in 2004.
