NISSAN PRODUCTION,
SALES, AND EXPORT RESULTS FOR NOVEMBER 2005
TOKYO (Dec. 22, 2005)--Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today
announced production, sales and export results for November.
1. Production
Global production rose 7.0% in November, compared with the same
month a year ago, to 294,915 units amid rising overseas output.
Domestic production fell 1.3% to 111,652 units amid a decline in output
of pickup trucks for export. Production was down despite the
introduction of the new Wingroad wagon in November and rising output of
the new Serena minivan released in May.
Overseas production increased 12.8% to 183,263 units.
Although output of the Altima mid-sized sedan rose in the US in
November, overall output fell 0.8% to 69,587 units amid a decline in
production of the Quest minivan and Frontier pickup. In Mexico, output
increased by 5.5% to 33,363 units due to an increase in production of
the Platina compact sedan.
In the UK, production dropped 2.2% to 26,605 units due to a decline in
output of the Primera sedan and wagon. Output in Spain increased by
34.8% to 20,154 units due to the solid performance of the new
Pathfinder SUV and the new Navara pickup truck. Local production of
both models began this year.
In General Overseas Markets (all markets excluding Japan, the US and
Europe), output increased 80.4% to 33,554 units. In China, production
increased 251.2% to 19,850 units due to an increase in output of the
Teana luxury sedan and start of local production of the Tiida compact
sedan and hatchback.
2. Sales
Japan registrations in November fell 20.3% to 48,919 units amid slower
sales of models such as the Fuga luxury sedan, Tiida compact sedan and
Tiida Latio compact sedan, all released late last year.
Nissan’s market share of domestic registrations in November
fell 2.4 percentage points from the previous year to 16.0%.
Including minivehicles, Nissan’s domestic sales in November fell
17.7%
to 56,767 units. The company’s share of that market fell 1.9
percentage
points to 12.3%.
US sales in November fell 3.9% from a year earlier to 77,212 units.
Nissan channel sales declined 2.8% to 66,849 amid slower sales of the
Titan pickup truck. Infiniti channel sales fell 10.5% from the previous
year to 10,363 units amid slower sales of the FX crossover SUV. Sales
of the M45 luxury sedan, however, were especially robust.
Sales in Canada dropped 27.0% to 4,473 units amid slow sales of the
Altima mid-sized sedan. In Mexico sales dropped 5.8% to 21,129 units.
Sales in Europe fell 19.5% from the previous year to 34,290 units as a
result of slower sales of the Micra compact car (March in Japan) and
the Pickup truck.
3. Exports from Japan
Nissan’s exports in November fell 10.9% from a year ago to 56,370
units
amid rising shipments to North America and the Middle East.
Exports to North America rose 9.9% to 24,173 units due to a rise in
shipments of the M45 luxury sedan. Exports to Europe dropped 23.5% to
8,099 units due to a decline in shipments of the Pickup truck.
Exports to the Middle East increased 22.1% to 9,094 units, boosted by
full-scale exports of the Tiida compact sedan. Exports to Latin America
fell 5.9% to 6,206 units, while exports to Asia decreased 47.9% to
4,264 units due to a decline in shipments of pickup trucks. Exports to
Oceania dropped 61.7% to 2,317 units amid a drop in shipments of the
Pulsar hatchback.
