Solutia Automotive Sponsors Second Year of Design Los Angeles

Premier Designers' Conference Continues to Provide Fertile Ground for Product Feedback

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 22 -- Solutia Automotive (Solutia) (BULLETIN BOARD: SOLUQ) has signed on for the second year as a premier sponsor of Design Los Angeles, the country's leading automobile designers' conference. Solutia, the leading producer of the plastic interlayer polyvinyl butyral (PVB) for the automotive industry, will continue to utilize the forum to gain feedback and ideas for its products, which include its Vanceva(R) brand color, metallic, image, acoustic, and solar interlayers for glass. The event runs concurrent to the Los Angeles Auto Show's media days this Jan. 4 and 5, 2006.

For the first time this year, Solutia will present its 2005 International Design Awards winners prior to the featured design speaker on Jan. 5. The award program recognizes architects, interior designers, automotive designers and laminators for their outstanding architectural and automotive design projects demonstrating innovative use of any Solutia brand of glazing products, including Vanceva(R), Saflex(R) and KeepSafe(R) interlayers for laminated glass. The widespread use of colored interlayers in the winning projects, both automotive and architectural, are indicative of a growing trend toward the use of color and metallic in design projects. Automotive award recipients include Volvo for its 3CC and Citroen for its C4, the latter of which can be seen in Solutia's booth on the second floor near the media lounge. Judges for the awards program included Chuck Pelly, founder of the Design Academy in Woodland Hills, Calif., Imre Molnar, Dean of the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, and Mark Sexton of Krueck & Sexton Associates in Chicago.

In addition to participating in the program, Solutia will have a major exhibit on the Mezzanine level in the convention center's West Hall. The exhibit will highlight Solutia's Vanceva(R) brand color and metallic products, demonstrating the wide adoption for use on concept vehicles and in architectural applications. Solutia will also maintain a large exhibit area in Kentia Hall that will display Solutia's current product offerings for the aftermarket and OE industries.

"We're thrilled to return to Design Los Angeles to hear what designers need from us to enhance their concept and production designs," said Jay L. Pyper, North American market development director for Solutia. "Our expanded presence, both at the conference and in Kentia Hall, will give us an edge in creating products that add value to automotive and architectural design."

Solutia again will provide a speaker for one of the designer-only sessions. Kaye Gosline, director of contract carpet fiber for Solutia, will be speaking on the Color panel after her well-received presence on the panel last year. Gosline works closely with architects and interior designers throughout the United States, Canada and Europe to track and forecast design trends in styling and color.
