Engelhard Raises Prices on Special Effect Exterior Pigments

ISELIN, N.J.--Dec. 2, 20051, 2005--Engelhard Corporation announced today it is increasing prices globally for its exterior-grade special effect pigments for use in automotive coatings, effective January 1, 2006.

Prices will be adjusted by 10% - 20% depending on the grade of the product.

Engelhard's exterior special effect pigments create multi-color visual effects for cars, boats, sporting goods and other outdoor products. Compatible with solvent- and water-based coatings, powder coatings and plastics, these pigments offer unique styling options for customers.

"The significant increases in energy, raw material and transportation costs have had a sustained impact on our business," said Millicent W. Pitts, Engelhard's group vice president and general manager, appearance and performance technologies. "In order to continue providing value-added technologies to our customers, we must increase prices to recover at least a portion of these escalating costs."
