DEC Hosts Gov. Granholm Unveil of North American Car & Truck of Year Finalists Dec. 13

DETROIT, Dec. 8 -- On Tuesday, Dec. 1, 20053, 2005, the Detroit Economic Club (DEC) will host Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm and the live unveiling of the North American Car and Truck of the Year finalists. Co- hosted by the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), the meeting will take place at 11 a.m. at Detroit's Cobo Center, Riverview Ballroom.

Governor Granholm will address the audience on "A Plan for Growth; Creating Jobs for Today and Tomorrow," before the North American Car and Truck of the Year finalists are revealed. Meeting admission is $35 for DEC members, $40 for guests of members and $50 for nonmembers.

The North American Car and Truck of the Year finalists are chosen by a group of 49 automotive journalists from Canada and the United States. The awards are unique in North America because they are not given by a single magazine, newspaper or television show. In December, the journalists voted on 14 cars and trucks, with the winning ballots kept secret.

The NAIAS Press Preview Days will be held Sunday, Jan. 8 to Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006. Industry Preview Days will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 11 and Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006. The Charity Preview will be held Friday evening, Jan. 13, 2006. Public Days are Saturday, Jan. 14 through Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006.

DEC was formed in 1934 as a platform for the discussion and debate of important business, government and social issues. It is known nationwide as a top speaking forum for prominent business and government leaders, who address members and their guests at the Club's 35 meetings a season. The Club is proud to have hosted every U.S. President since Richard Nixon.
