Cummins Westport Engines to Power Up to 95 New TransLink Buses in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--Dec. 8, 2005--Cummins Westport Inc. (CWI) today announced that the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority (TransLink) has selected its C Gas Plus natural gas engine to power up to 95 new 40-foot, compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy-duty buses for the Greater Vancouver area.

The buses will be built by New Flyer Industries Inc. of Winnipeg and delivery of the base order, for 73 vehicles, will occur in mid-2006. This award is significant both because it is CWI's first large commercial order in British Columbia, and because it positions CWI to showcase its latest technology at a time when TransLink is embarking on a major fleet expansion program.

"We are pleased to have been selected by TransLink to supply these low emission natural gas buses powered by the CWI C Gas Plus. This award reinforces New Flyer's position as a technology leader focused on advanced propulsion systems and alternate fuel technologies, and further strengthens our thirty-year-plus relationship with TransLink. The C Gas Plus has a reliable reputation in transit and continues our long term relationship with Cummins and Cummins Westport," stated John Marinucci, President and CEO of New Flyer.

"Since its introduction in 2001, CWI's C Gas Plus engine has become the leading natural gas engine for transit buses in North America, and has established a strong track record for performance and economy in a variety of fleets," said Guan Saw, Cummins Westport Inc.'s President. "We are committed, together with our Vancouver-based Cummins Distributor, to supporting TransLink and ensuring a successful fleet experience with our advanced technology natural gas engines."

New Flyer is a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in Canada and the United States. The Company's three facilities - in Winnipeg, MB, St. Cloud, MN and Crookston, MN - are all ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified.
