Fairchild Sports to Expand G-Line, Hires 'Super Sarah' as Global Merchandising Manager
TUSTIN, Calif. & VIENNA, Va.--Dec. 8, 2005--Fairchild Sports, a global distributor of quality motor sport brands, today announced it has hired Sarah Schilke as global merchandising and category manager for the G-Line brand of motorcycle gear made for women by women under the guidance of Hein Gericke, the company's apparel brand. (See www.g-line-store.com)Schilke, a 12-year veteran of the motorcycle industry, joins Hein Gerick and parent Fairchild Sports (parent company NYSE:FA) from the American Motorcyclist Association where she served for seven years as western advertising manager for American Motorcyclist Magazine.
Schilke has extensive street and dirt motorcycle experience, including a successful career as an amateur desert and motocross racer, where she acquired the moniker "Super Sarah." She has been a strong advocate for women motorcycle riders and is a frequently quoted spokesperson on the topic of women in motorcycling. Her personal Web site, http://www.supersarah.net, is a popular spot for motorcycle enthusiasts. She holds an MBA in marketing from CSU Long Beach, and currently resides in Long Beach, Calif. Schilke will be located at Hein Gericke's European Headquarters in Dusseldorf, Germany. She will be charged with global marketing of the G-Line and with product evolution.
"When we launched 'G,' we told the women motorcycle riders of the world we hear you," said Elizabeth Rakestraw, vice president of Fairchild Sports. "One of Sarah's key roles, as one so knowledgeable in the industry, is to help us continue to listen to the customer as we grow and expand the brand and respond rapidly with products that both protect and are beautiful and easy to use. If you could name a person in the world of women motorcyclists who personifies the adventure, the courage, and the responsibility of the rising generation of successful women who ride, it would be Sarah Schilke."
"I am intrigued by the vision of the creators of the G Line -- to develop a quality motorcycle product for women from the ground up -- as opposed to the usual method of altering a man's product to try to make it work for a woman. The difference is obvious in the colors, styling and fit -- the G Line definitely stands out from other women's motorcycle gear," said Schilke, who rides daily.
"I am very excited to dive in and get involved with this project. I hope to enable as many women as possible worldwide to experience our fantastic G-Line apparel, and to ensure we work diligently to continuously improve the line, responding to our customers and making G-Line a force for women motorcyclists for years to come," Schilke said.
