Camaco Chooses Plexus Online From Plexus Systems To Integrate Diverse Manufacturing Systems
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 7, 2005 -- Plexus Systems is pleased to announce P&C Group I, also known as Camaco, LLC, the largest independent supplier of seat frame structures to the North American automotive market, has chosen the Plexus Online Enterprise-wide Resource Planning System to integrate its diverse operating systems into a single on-demand system that links its manufacturing locations and central office.
Plexus Online allows Novi, Michigan-based Camaco to track and manage its core business in real time through a web browser, from Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and sales to purchasing, production, quality, shipping, accounting and human resources.
"We were looking for a completely integrated solution that took into account our cultural strengths and would provide us with the requisite foundation to continue our pursuit of world class manufacturing," said Bob Adams, Vice President, Manufacturing Services and Strategic Planning for Camaco. "We were not interested in creating a core competency in informational technology, as other solutions would require. We had neither the staff nor the inclination to do so. With their web-based system, Plexus provides a cost-effective answer to all of our ERP needs and the opportunity to significantly advance the technology of all systems we employ."
Camaco, a $200 million supplier of interior metal structures to the automotive market has five facilities in North America and employs multiple in-house systems. "Our objective was to integrate all locations into a common system while pursuing a technological upgrade in our capabilities," Adams said. "Plexus with its web-based service and continual improvements eliminated the need for multiple servers, database managers and the hassle of periodic upgrades. It also provided us with an opportunity to commonize systems across all locations while leveraging advancements that Plexus has made in these same systems."
"Camaco's advanced development and product engineering capability and its commitment to lean manufacturing provide its customers with quality products that meet price, timing and weight targets," said Rob Beatty, CEO of Plexus Systems. "Plexus Online will enhance those abilities by providing Camaco with a single, state-of-the-art manufacturing information system that provides the real-time information to efficiently run its operations and collaborate with its supply chain in key areas."
Those key areas include: * Accounting and Costing * Shop Floor Control * Purchasing * Program Management * Sales * Production and PLC Integration * Engineering * Quality * Materials * EDI * Inventory * Shipping/Receiving * Maintenance * Communication * Tool Management * Management * Human Resources
The system is completely integrated with an easy to use browser-based front end without the cost and maintenance of in-house servers. Camaco expects to have the first phase operational and performing in less than 90 days.
