USAC Release - ZEPHYRHILLS' REUTIMANN MOTORSPORTS ANNOUNCES
SILVER CROWN COMMITMENT FOR 2006
INDIANAPOLIS – Reutimann Motorsports Inc. of Zephyrhills, Fla., one of
Florida’s premier Sprint car teams, has announced its intentions to run the
new generation Silver Crown Series car, slated for its first competition in
2006.
Wayne Reutimann Jr. of Zephyrhills will be the driver for the newly
purchased Stealth, which will utilize Ed Pink engines. Case Contracting Co.
will continue to be the primary sponsor, with James-Rivard, Bilstein Shock
and Weld Wheel on board as associate sponsors.
“To be able to go to a few races with the Busch and Cup guys and the IRL
contingent, you’re running in front of people,” Reutimann said. “Everybody
wanted TV and to make more money, and we’re getting both of those. I’m
looking forward to running these cars next season, and additionally, will
continue to run on the dirt.”
Reutimann made his Silver Crown debut in 2003 at the DuQuoin (Ill.) State
Fairgrounds and in 2004 was honored as the series’ Rookie of the Year after
starting 10 races and finishing 24th in the final point standings. He
improved tremendously in 2005, finishing seventh in series points after
three Top-10 finishes, including a career-best sixth in the “Copper World
Classic” in Avondale, Ariz.
In addition to his Silver Crown endeavors, Reutimann also pilots one of the
family’s several Sprint cars. He competes frequently in the Tampa Bay Auto
Racing Association, and this season won the pavement championship in the
United Sprint Car Series.
Stealth has been one of the leading manufacturers of the new Silver Crown
car. The company tested Michael Lewis in late October, and Stealth president
Joey Martin is enthused not only by the increased interest, but also of the
progression of the car.
“We’re very pleased to be associated with dedicated racers like Chuck
Christensen and Wayne Reutimann Jr.,” Martin said. “The progress that we’re
making is very positive, given that we’ve tested with good results at
Indianapolis Raceway Park, and we look forward to more progression and
contact with other interested owners.”
