Advance Auto Parts Promotes Gregory E. Haan to Senior Vice President, Merchandising, Parts Department

ROANOKE, Va.--Dec. 5, 2005--Advance Auto Parts, Inc. , a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, batteries, accessories, and maintenance items, announced today that Gregory E. Haan has been promoted to the position of Senior Vice President, Merchandising, Parts Department. In this new position, Mr. Haan will report to David Mueller, executive vice president, merchandising and marketing, and will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership in all aspects of the company's parts department merchandising.

Mr. Haan joined Advance Auto Parts in 1982 and has served in a variety of positions with the company. Most recently, he held the position of Vice President, Service Area Merchandising since December of 1996.

Mr. Haan began his career at Advance as a store sales associate and rose to the positions of Store and Division Manager. Thereafter, he served as a hard parts buyer for the company, ultimately rising to the position of Merchandise Manager for hard parts, which he held from February 1992 until his promotion to vice president in December 1996.
