Exide Announces Price Increases on Industrial Energy Batteries and Products in North America

ALPHARETTA, Ga.--Dec. 1, 2005--Exide Technologies (www.exide.com), a global leader in stored electrical-energy solutions, announced today that it will raise prices on its Industrial Energy products in the motive power and network power segments in North America. The price increases are effective for all orders placed on or after January 1, 2006.

On the motive power side of the business, Exide will increase prices 6 percent on all batteries, cells, chargers and parts sold in North America. The price of network power batteries will increase 2.5 percent effective January 1, which will result in an overall price increase of 5 percent when coupled with the 2.5 percent increase implemented in October 2005.

"The escalating cost of the raw materials and energy used in the production of batteries, together with the increased cost of transporting our products, necessitates this action," said Mitchell S. Bregman, President - Industrial Energy Americas at Exide.
